General Safety and Procedures

 

 

  1. Any direction given by a Range Officer must be followed IMMEDIATELY.

 

  1. Hearing and Eye protection must be worn.

 

  1. Participants MUST have reported to a Range Officer/Club Official AND HAVE REGISTERED before removing any firearms from your vehicle or commencing any shooting.

 

  1. All firearms must have the bolt/action open with a breech flag inserted and visible until on the firing line, the firearm pointing down range at the targets, Breech flag only to be removed when actually shooting and then re-inserted before leaving the firing line.

 

  1. You are not permitted to commence firing until the Range Officer gives the command YOU MAY COMMENCE FIRING.

 

  1. In the event of the Range officer declaring a “Cease Fire” immediate action is required!!!!  DO NOT FIRE OFF your last shot, immediately open your Bolt/Action remove any ammunition from the firearm and DO NOT TOUCH OR HANDLE the firearm again until such time as the Range Officer given an ALL CLEAR and then the instruction YOU MAY COMMENCE FIRING is given again.

 

  1. Bolt/Action is not to be closed or cocked until the firearm is shouldered and pointing down range at the targets.

 

  1. Single round loading only!     No magazine fed rounds permitted!

 

  1. In the event of a malfunction or misfire, keep your bolt/action closed, keep the firearm pointing down range at the targets, raise your hand and call our loudly “Range Officer”  Keep your hand raised until the Range Officer attend to you. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR FIREARM from the shooting line until cleared and approved by the Range Officer.

 

  1. At target change intervals DO NOT move in front of the firing line until the Range Officer gives the ALL CLEAR and announces  YOU MAY MOVE FORWARD.  DO NOT commence firing again until the Range Officer gives the command YOU MAY COMMENCE FIRING.

 

  1. Muzzle Brakes are prohibited and strictly not permitted on the Cessnock Range. Black Powder firearms are not permitted on the Cessnock Range. Calibre up to 8mm and below only. The Range Officer has the right to deny the use of other high calibre designations or firearm types at the Range Officers discretion.

 

  1. The above terms are a summary only and should be read in conjunction with the Standard Shooting Rules and the Cessnock Range Code of Conduct. Copies are on display at the Clubhouse building. 

 

  1. The Range Licensee reserves the right to amend or alter any of the above conditions for the purposes of, or during a Competition Event.

 

  1. If you do not understand any of the above instructions, ASK a range Officer before you proceed any further.

 

 15. All firearms must have bolts removed & a breach flag inserted before entering the range. Firearms are not to be carried to the         mound from the car in any form of a gun case.

Members using our club as a means to hold a Firearm License

If you want to use a hunting club as means for holding a Firearm license and Firearms, you must be a current member of a Hunting Club. If you join and use HUNTER DISTRICT HUNTING CLUB Inc. (HDHC Inc.) as a means for holding a Firearm License and Firearms, you are required to renew your membership with us on or before 1st February each year.

 (Membership starts on 1st February each year and ends on 1st February of the following year). 

 

NoticeIf you are RENEWING your membership, please only click on RENEW MEMBERSHIP. If you are renewing and click on NEW MEMBERSHIP you will duplicate your membership and end up with a NEW MEMBER NUMBER, this will affect your registered number that you have with the Firearm Registry.

If you are a JUNIOR, you will have to pay the full membership fee from 01/02/2018,however Jnr's range fee is free when you shoot at a club shoot held at Cessnock Rifle Range.

 

When we were formed

The Hunter District Hunting Club Inc. (HDHC Inc.) was formed in December 1996, and has over 3000 members from more than 58 post codes. As well as Hunting we are also a Target shooting and Firearm Collecting Club, firearms licence categories ABCH.

 

Safety Awareness Test

HDHC Inc. can arrange a firearms safety test for you if required.

Insurance

We carry our own Public Liability ($10,000,000) and Directors Insurance.
